Need money for college? Check out this essay-based $1,000 scholarship

Technology which has become a vital component of our modern lives, has contributed to numerous advancements. Perhaps one of the most notable is the application of technology to education to enable self-paced, personalized learning.

Originally known as distance learning, online education has become a unique tool designed to make higher-education more widely available.

Traditional college education continues to be extremely expensive, but thankfully online colleges have managed to combat that trend, to some extend at least. While a lot of students today are questioning whether to go to university or not, online education aims to make the choice a little bit easier.

Distance learning offers a lot of flexibility, which means students at online colleges could hold on to a job or also, juggle other responsibilities. Having a job is becoming a standard for a lot of people attending a university. Since fees are extremely high, most families find they can’t pay for a full college degree. Hence students are forced to seek employment in order to be able to pay for their degree.

Thankfully, online education tends to be a little more affordable. It’s not always the case, but sometimes it can be cheaper than at traditional colleges. And even if it’s not the case, think about it this way.

Distance learning students live at home, which means they won’t have to pay rent to live in another city or worry about commuting expenses. So instead of spending the money on room & board, you’ll be able to use it to pay for fees for your program.

However, this might still not be enough. Some programs at online colleges are still pretty expensive, so students might find they are unable to pay for them. If that’s the case, don’t despair or start thinking you should give up on your dream.

Instead, you need to look for solutions. The first one that comes to mind is to apply for scholarships. These days there are so many funding programs which are also open to students of distance learning. So don’t hesitate to start searching as soon as possible if you want to get a money aid for your online education.

For example, you could apply for the scholarship. This is a website that offers quick reference guide to accurate, up-to-date information about all government offices and public records sources.

Anyway, they also offer a grant for students who are enrolled or will be soon enrolled in college. You need to be at least 16 years of age to apply for this scholarships.

There are no other requirements, so if you’re over 16 you can participate in the program by submitting an original essay.

The text should be between 500 and 1,500 words and based on the following prompt:

Describe how one of the local government offices (or type of office) listed on our website has improved your own life and/or the lives of the people around you.”

Once the essay is ready, make sure you fill out the short application form on the website with your personal details. And submit it with your article.

You have until October 31 to apply for this $1,000 scholarship. The next deadline is set for April 30, 2019.
