It’s that time of the year when students are going back to school. If you too have enrolled with an offline or online school, you’re probably are already wondering – how will I manage to afford paying for my degree?
This is a question many students out there are asking. And thankfully, you have a few options when it comes to getting some financial assistance.
High-education degree programs come at very high-costs today. But don’t worry, there are things you can do to get some additional money for college. Regardless of whether you are enrolled with a traditional or online school, you should know that you can apply for scholarships.
Don’t pay attention to the myths circling around the web according to which those enrolled with university online degrees can’t apply for scholarships. That’s not the case today. Maybe a few years back, students of online degree programs didn’t have a lot of options when it came to finding financial aid, but things are quite different in the present day.
Students of university online degrees are treated just like traditional students. For starters, they can apply for funding at their college of choice. Whether this is an online school or an on-campus one.
Indeed, some brick-and-mortar universities have understood the value of online education, so many today are offering study options for the digital students. It’s no longer a surprising fact.
Anyway, if a student finds they can’t apply for a bursary at their school, there’s always the option to go online and look for programs. The private scholarship industry has boomed in the last few years, so you those enrolled with university online degrees can easily find opportunities.
If you know your major, you can search for scholarships targeting students just like yourself. But there are many general scholarships out there too. Which are open for students of all types.
Obviously, they might come with their own set of requirements. For example, the Small Business, Big Impact Scholarship targets students who are enrolled full-time with a 2 or 4-year degree programs. So if you’re a part-time student you won’t be able to apply.
Other than that, it might be useful to have an interest for the small business niche if you want to apply for this program.
That’s because you are required to write a short essay between 500 and 750-words in which you are required to tell the jury about your favorite small business and why it’s important to you.
Once you’re done with that, make sure you complete the application form too in order to submit your candidature.
Entries will be judged based on various criteria including content, spelling & grammar, as well as creativity and clarity of expression.
Two winners will be chosen and each will receive a $2,500 scholarship. The scholarship has two deadlines per year and the next one is set for October 19. The winners will be announced on December 9.
If you don’t make it in time, don’t worry, you will be able to apply again this spring.
